The rules of Web Mystery Magazine's First Annual "W" Short Story Contest are simple: (1) write a short story using a "W" word as a motif, character, setting, theme, or clue, and (2) include the "W" word in the title. Length: 2,500 to 12,500 words. Genres: amateur-sleuth, noir, cozy, historical, thriller, golden-age, procedural – any genre is acceptable, as long as a mystery figures in the plot. Format: refer to Submission Guidelines. Deadline for submissions: 1 November, 2005. Three winners will be selected by a panel of judges. Prizes: winning stories and author interviews will be published in Web Mystery Magazine's Winter 2006 issue (1 January 2006). |
